Seven hours with Wildrfid Crew.
Wildrfid is an electronic experimental music label based in Geneva.
After five days in Berlin, where they presented a new release through two days concerts at The Zone and Dasandereselbst Cottage.
The last night of their residence, Wildrfid invited (@Picnic) different people they meet in Berlin in order to share a couscous during a radio show.
Simon Wildrfid cooked a delicious couscous for 15 people, Renaud Wildrfid was at the desk, Anita made voice supporting and Sofie Maladie noise and jingle master.
The radio show has been a collection of fieldrecording in music store and during ritual night kitchen, dj set of the last discovered vinyl and some live act recorded in Picnic studio.

Fight the Power

LapTopRadio.org organized a special broadcast. The broadcast “Fight The Power” drawed inspiration from the eponymous Public Enemy song that was broadcasted live and continuously in 1991 on one of Belgrade’s dissident radio station, B92.

Within the context of today’s political and social disruption all around the globe, from Libya to America- protest and radio, music and diffusion, sound and amplification seem to be of relevant importance. The Libyan musician-soldier and Slavoj Žižek’s intervention on Wall-Street (after the police forbade the use of megaphones during the occupation) are therefore symbolic: the guitarist seems to handle his guitar like a machinegun whereas the chorus (in the classical sense) denounces with a massive critical voice the iniquitous situation.

The subject of the evening could be summarized as an attempt to analyze the geopolitics and dialectics of protest songs. That is for the theoretical part; pragmatically the broadcast consisted of a collective live atopic sound performance. A number of invited artists, writers, activist and musicians remotely contributed in real time.
Fight the Power took place within the project “This Machine Kills Fascists”, inspired by Woodie Guthrie guitar inscription and dealing with protest songs in the widest meaning. The project declines in a multitude of formats that will finally result in an exhibition taking place in 2012, Geneva. “This Machine kills Fascists” is a joint project initiated by Ceel Mogami de Haas, Laurent Schmid and Daniel Suter.

The following recording was realised after the exhibition « A Choreographed Polyphony », an exhibition by Mathieu Copeland where 3 persons read in its entirety the publication « An Exhibition to Hear Read (volume2) » during the opening hours of the gallery ‘Live In Your Head’ – Geneva’s. Comprising of pieces to be read by Marí Alessandrini, Sacha Béraud, Emma Bjornesparr, Jérémy Chevalier, Chloé Delarue, Kenneth Goldsmith, Anne-Sylvie Henchoz, Jean-Christophe Huguenin, Livia Johann, Tom Johnson, Franck Leibovici, Véronique Portal, Lili Reynaud Dewar, Tatiana Rihs, Daphné Roulin, Cally Spooner, Irena Tomažin, Anne Le Troter and Martina-Sofie Wildberger, this audio memory becomes the traces of an exhibition that was.

The space of the gallery becomes the time of the recording, and the bodies are reduced solely to their voices. This recording affirms its autonomy and poses the question of how to keep the memory of an exhibition – furthermore an exhibition of time, and the ephemerality of the spoken word.   The recording was realised by the LapTopRadio, HEAD – Geneva.
